  • ILP incoming Kindergarteners from LCP, Fall 2020 - Fiske space issue

  1. Proposal from Principal Baker and Principal Corduck, to Dr. Hackett, May 22, 2020

In spite of recent redistricting, Fiske continues to face space limitations and does not have a classroom to accommodate the incoming 9 Kindergarten students currently enrolled in the Intensive Learning Program at Lexington Children’s Place (as of May 1, 2020).  When redistricting was first proposed Fiske was slated to decrease the student population by about 90 students for the 20/21 school year, however the numbers have changed and Fiske will only be losing 32 students due to redistricting. However, with redistricting and the subsequent enrollment decrease for the 2020-21 school year, Bowman Elementary School will have classroom space for these incoming Kindergarten students.” Initial proposal from Brian Baker & Jennifer Corduck, Fiske Elementary Principal / Bowman Elementary, May 22, 2020

  1. Update to parents at LCP, May 24, 2020, Dr. Hackett

“Due to a lack of available space, I was prepared to approve aproposal that was submitted to me by Fiske Principal Brian Baker (with support from Principal Jenny Corduck, Director of Pre-Kindergarten, Liz Billings-Fouhy, and Director of Special Education, Ellen Sugita).  The proposal involved the relocation of the Kindergarten Intensive Intensive Learning Program (ILP) to Bowman Elementary School.  We have found an alternative solution for the upcoming school year, so I am temporarily postponing the Kindergarten ILP move to Bowman for the 2020-2021 school year. I do want to be clear that this is only a short-term solution that we will still need to address in 2021-2022, if enrollments continue as anticipated. Full update to LCP parents, May 24, 2020
