SEPAC meets regularly with LPS administration to be the voice of our parent community. Advising on concerns and opportunities. 

Our goal is to give all children safe and equitable opportunities in Special Education.

Welcome to the LexSEPTA, on this page you will be able to easily access many sources of information regarding special education for your child and other resources to help you as a parent of a child with needs, social gatherings with other parents, the school committee and more.

Adaptive Programming through the Lexington Recreation Department

Kate DeAngelis is the new Therapeutic Recreational Therapist at the Lexington Recreational Department. Kate is working with parents and the community to provide quality adaptive programs for children with needs and disabilities.

Check out the offerings at the Lexington Recreation website and please contact Kate directly with any ideas or questions as the more input she receives, the more she can help shape the program to everyone's needs.

We are putting together a provider director to help our members connect with resources in the area. Please submit recommendations for providers via this anonymous submission form.

Making the Most of LexSEPTA

Being a member of LexSEPTA connects you to a wealth of information and to other parents, who can support you in navigating the world of special education and accommodation plans in our schools. Make sure you explore the many benefits we offer: 

  • Attend parent coffees with ETSs, school committee members, other parents and share concerns and seek information.

  • Reach out to your school SEPAC liaison, a fellow parent with a child in your school with needs, they are there to help direct you and offer support.
  • Attend our workshops and events, targeted to help parents understand more about the needs their children endeavour.
  • Explore the links on this page, directing you to all the key information and legislation that you need to know, parenting a child on an IEP (individualised education program) or 504 accommodation plan.
  • Join a support group, led by dedicated parents, to support and educate each other, you will be added to member only listservs to reach out to others for information and advice.

  • Receive emails with key information about special education in LPS, invitations to parent meetings with school committee liaisons, special education administrators and more.
  • Show your thanks to our teachers and staff, your contribution helps towards our annual Teacher Appreciation event.
  • Have your say, attend one of our public SEPAC business meetings and raise any ideas or concerns you may have about the programming in your school, or send us an email.
